Have a party! Photo by LINK |
The key to writing an enjoyable blog that attracts and
interests customers is the same as any interesting piece of writing; if it’s
fun to write, it’s fun to read. Blogging
doesn’t have to be work; it’s a chance to tell your story and tell about the
business that you are passionate about.
We have 15 blog starters that will help you tell your story and have fun
at the same time.
#1; So, you’re having a party…
Tell your customers what you’re up to. Are you hosting any sales? Are you attending a conference? Having a party? Sponsoring a charity event? Hiring a new team
member? This advertises your event or
occasion while keeping your web content current.
#2 THAT just happened!
Showcase your big news and celebrate your victories. Did you get some new equipment? Add a new menu item? Were you featured in a magazine or
newspaper? Expanding locations? Remodeling?
Whether its big or small, involving your customers in your businesses
strengthens customer relationships and shows that your business is active and moving
forward.
#3 An exclusive, behind the scenes look
Give your customers a virtual tour of your business. Use pictures, videos or just use words to
illustrate what you do. Make it “A Day
In the Life Of” and show what you do every day, showcase an essential part of
your production process or something that makes your items special. It may seem mundane to you, but customers
that pay for your skills and expertise want to know!
#4 All of our smiling faces
Blogs are the place to get personal and show the real people
behind the business. Every employee has
a story; interesting hobbies, passions, irreplaceable skills they have at their
job. If you are a one-man operation,
then feature yourself. This adds a
human, local, neighborly element to your business; when customers contact you
or walk in, they will recognize you.

#5 The latest news
What’s changing in your industry? What new and interesting things are
happening? Has bacon entered the world
of desserts? Is there a new bait taking
the fly fishing world by storm? A new
machine on the cutting edge of metal fabrication? Tell us! You are the expert at what you do,
and this is the place to show it.
#6 #LoveLansing (and other local areas we #Love)
Your first supporters always come from the people around you
and your blog is a great place to showcase your local flair. Feature a nearby company that you do business
with, a local farm where you get your restaurant’s veggies, a MeetUp group that
meets at your business—whatever helps to give you roots. If you’re totally online, localize with other
blogs you read, groups you’re a part of, or some of your most loyal customers.
#7 We really do care
Show what you care about and bring others to your
cause. Do you support a community
development group? Sponsor a little
league tournament? Give extra food to a
food bank? Support an animal shelter? Tell us about these deeds; this will bring
more support to an admirable cause while showing your business’s morals and
ethics.
#8 Here’s a #ProTip
Even if customers pay for your skills, sharing your tips
shows your knowledge and good faith. Show
a special sauté method for connoisseurs to use at home. Tell taxpayers what
deductions are often missed each year.
Recommend the products that you use and why they’re the best. Share the little tricks that you use every
day and customers will use them, share them and see how smart you are.
#9 Turn up the limelight
Every field has prominent experts, celebrities, or idols
that fans keep up with. Feature the
newest activities of a prominent chef, a cutting-edge tech company, an HGTV real estate mogul, a World Fishing
Network all-star—if it’s interesting or applicable to your business, it’ll be
interesting to your customers, followers, or fans.
#10 The biggest questions
Every field has topics of debate. When questions and controversies arise, don’t
be afraid to join in and offer your take on the matter. Is Mac superior to PC? Better to count calories or carbs? Are e-cigarettes safe? Does flossing really help? Be sure to show what you know about the
questions of your industry and back up your opinion.
#11 Bring your fun
It's ok to have fun Photo by LINK |
Add some entertainment and leisure with hobbies or pastimes
related to your business. Mechanics may
focus on racing or classic cars. Real
estate experts or contractors may showcase flipping homes or DIY home
improvement. Software companies might
show the latest mobile app or computer game.
A dentist might show how vampire fangs are used in Trueblood—don’t be afraid to get creative!
#12 That’s amazing!
Whether something is large, fast, expensive, new or just
plan odd, remarkable happenings are fun to talk about. Focus on record-breakers, crazy pictures or
incredible technology; the fastest car, the largest animal, the most
extravagant house, medical anomalies, the biggest weddings—whatever blows your
mind in your business.
#13 Happy holidays!
Join in holiday festivities and show how special days are
highlighted at your business. Do you
sell a lot online? Cyber Monday. Are
your main customers men? Father’s
Day. Do you solve problems related to
health, wellness or food? Thanksgiving. Are you a vacation hot-spot? July Fourth and Memorial Day. Do you make cakes? Pi Day.

#14 We want you!
Create a challenge, giveaway or other promotion and
encourage customers to join in. This not
only makes a great blog, but also creates buzz and intrigue. Ask customers to send in photos, share
comments, or tell stories. Link to your other social accounts to make it
easy.
#15 Time to get away
Finally time to get away... Photo by LINK |
Though summer is the most popular vacation time, winter
getaways are also essential. Tie
yourself into a nearby travel hotspot as a part of an “ideal vacation” (great
for restaurants, novelty products, spas, hotels and other leisure/entertainment
enterprises). Or, add yourself to a list
of travel must-haves (better for services; vehicle tune-ups, beach-body gym
regiments, home security systems, tanning, teeth-whitening, pet-sitting etc.)
Don’t forget to add
pictures, keep it brief and make sure your information is applicable. And always tie-in your business at the end
(like this!): to get more great blog ideas and other excellent writings from
